Responsible Sourcing Policy

  1. Gilbert Petit-Jean SA is a watchmaking subcontractor located in Les Brenets, Switzerland. This policy reaffirms Gilbert Petit-Jean SA’s commitment to respecting human rights, avoiding any contribution to conflict financing, and complying with all relevant United Nations sanctions, resolutions, and laws.
  1. Gilbert Petit-Jean SA is a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). As such, we are committed to demonstrating, through an independent third-party audit, that we:
    1. Let us respect human rights in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labor Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work;
    2. We do not engage in any form of corruption, money laundering, or terrorist financing, and we do not tolerate such activities;
    3. Let us support transparency in payments from governments and security forces that respect human rights in the extractive industries;
    4. We do not provide any direct or indirect support to illegal armed groups;
    5. let’s enable stakeholders to voice their concerns regarding the jewelry industry’s supply chain;
    6. Let’s implement the OECD’s five-step framework as a management process to carry out risk-based due diligence in order to ensure responsible supply chains for minerals from conflict-affected or high-risk areas.
  1. We are also committed to using our influence to prevent potential violations by other parties. We inform our partners, suppliers, and customers and ask them to adhere to certain commitments. We have a complaint policy in place for stakeholders who wish to bring issues or concerns regarding materials sourced from ZCHR to our attention.
  1. Regarding flagrant violations during the mining, transport, or trade of diamonds and colored gemstones.
    We will not tolerate, assist, or facilitate the commission of the following acts in any way, nor will we profit from or contribute to them:
    1. torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment;
    2. forced or compulsory labor;
    3. the worst forms of child labor;
    4. human rights violations and abuses;
    5. war crimes, violations of international humanitarian law, crimes against humanity, or genocide.
  1. We will terminate all relationships with upstream suppliers if we identify a risk that reasonably indicates that they are engaging in the violations mentioned in paragraph 4, that they source from third parties committing these violations, or that they are associated with such third parties.
  1. Regarding direct or indirect support for non-state armed groups
    We sell or purchase only diamonds and colored gemstones that are fully compliant with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, and as such, will not tolerate any direct or indirect support for non-state armed groups or their affiliated entities—including through the supply of diamonds or colored gemstones, the payment of money, or the provision of logistical, material, or other assistance—that are illegally engaged in the following activities:
    1. the illegal control of mining sites or transport routes, trading hubs for diamonds and colored gemstones, and upstream actors in the supply chain;
    2. illegal taxation or extortion of money or diamonds/colored gemstones at mining sites, along transport routes, or at trading centers for diamonds/colored gemstones, or targeting intermediaries, export companies, or international traders.
  1. We will immediately cease all dealings with upstream suppliers if we identify a reasonable risk that they source goods from third parties that directly or indirectly support non-state armed groups such as those referred to in paragraph 6, or that they are linked to such groups.
  1. Regarding public or private security forces
    We affirm that the role of public or private security forces is to ensure the safety of workers, facilities, equipment, and property in accordance with the rule of law, including legislation that guarantees human rights. We will not provide any direct or indirect support to public or private security forces that commit the abuses described in paragraph 4 or that act unlawfully as described in paragraph 6.
  1. With regard to bribes and false declarations regarding the origin of diamonds and colored gemstones, we refrain from offering, promising, or granting bribes, and we will resist solicitations forfor the purpose of concealing or disguising the origin of diamonds and colored gemstones, or making false statements regarding taxes, duties, and fees paid to governments for the mining, trade, processing, transportation, and export of diamonds.
  1. Regarding money laundering
    We will support efforts to help eliminate money laundering in situations where we identify a reasonable risk of money laundering arising from or related to the extraction, trade, processing, transport, or export of diamonds and colored gemstones.
  2. With regard to the environment, we are aware of environmental issues and our responsibilities in this area. We comply with environmental laws and regulations and are committed to preserving the environment and improving our environmental performance.

Handling complaints related to the company's activities and those of its direct and indirect partners

Gilbert Petit-Jean SA has established this procedure to receive and handle complaints regarding:

  • human rights;
  • the supply chain for metals and precious stones, particularly those originating from conflict zones or high-risk areas;
  • business ethics (corruption, bribes, facilitation payments)
  • the environment;
  • working conditions (overtime, wages, harassment, freedom of association and collective bargaining, discrimination, diversity, and inclusion);
  • information about the products and services provided by the company;
  • where applicable, the company’s claims regarding its products and services
  • where applicable, the segregation and traceability of precious materials (CoC).

Patricia Dannecker is responsible for implementing and reviewing this procedure.

Interested parties, whether internal or external to the company, may submit their concerns to Patricia Dannecker at +41 32 933 07 08 or pdannecker@gpetitjean.ch, or drop their complaint in the HR department’s mailbox.

Upon receipt of the complaint, we will make every effort to:

  • obtain a detailed report on the complaint;
  • explain our complaint-handling procedure;
  • determine how the complainant wishes the matter to be handled;
  • maintain the complainant’s confidentiality if that is their wish;
  • decide who should handle the complaint internally or help forward the complaint to the appropriate entity, such as the relevant supplier or the appropriate institution in the sector;
  • obtain further information, if necessary, when the issue can be resolved internally;
  • identify all the steps we should take, including monitoring the situation;
  • notify the complainant of our decisions or conclusions as soon as possible;
  • Keep complaints received and the internal procedures followed on file for at least ten years.

We will not take any retaliatory action against individuals who file a complaint in good faith.

We recognize that we must take steps to identify and address any actual or potential negative impacts, whether directly or indirectly related to our business activities or relationships. We understand that human rights due diligence is a dynamic and ongoing process that requires us to act on the findings, monitor our actions, and communicate to our stakeholders how we address these impacts.

Because our human rights risks and impacts may change over time, this policy will be subject to review if our human rights due diligence process proves to be inadequate.
